BUMPSALE

PRIVACY POLICY

UPDATED: May 20, 2023

We are committed to sustaining your trust in us. This Privacy Policy describes our policies and procedures regarding how we collect, use, and disclose your information in terms of this website and the services that we offer through this site.

We do not share your information with any third parties outside our organization, except as stated in this Privacy Policy.

The terms “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Bumpsale, and the terms “you” and “your” refer to you – the people who use our site.

If you don’t like our Terms of Service (“TOS”) or Privacy Policy, that’s ok – we won’t think less of you, but please don’t use our site.

  1. What Information We Collect From You.

We may collect personal information about and from you depending on how you use this site.

  • If you use Bumpsale for fundraising or to sell your wares, we will collect the information necessary to set up your Bumpsale page, including your name, company name (if applicable), address, phone number, and email address.
  • If you back a fundraiser or make a purchase through a Bumpsale page, we will request the information necessary for you to pay the amount and receive the perks or product in the mail, including your name, address, and email address.

By using Bumpsale to fundraiser, sell, back a fundraiser, or make a purchase, you give consent for us to contact you regarding that as part of our commitment to customer service.

The purpose for collecting this information from you is to allow you to use Bumpsale to crowdfund, support a fundraiser, or buy or sell your wares. We collect and hold your information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide this service or to fulfill legal and regulatory requirements. We do not request or require “sensitive” or “special category” information.

We use Stripe, a third-party payment processor, to accept payments. We never have access to your credit card number. Please see Stripe’s terms of service and privacy policy for information about their service.

  1. We Have an Optional Email List.

If you opt-in to receive marketing emails from us, you voluntarily give us permission to send you emails about Bumpsale, including updates and new offerings. We also track email usage information to improve our emails, deliverability, and enhance the content sent to you. You may contact us regarding this use at any time using the contact information below.

We will keep your information on our mailing list until you withdraw your consent. You may opt-out of receiving these messages at any time by using the opt-out links in every email or contacting us.

  1. How and When We Share Your Information with Others.

Bumpsale is a platform. We are not responsible for sending you the perks from backing a fundraiser or the item you purchased using our site. When you back or buy something through Bumpsale, we share your information with the person and/or organization you’re supporting so they can send you whatever they’ve promised you.

By supporting a fundraiser or making a purchase through Bumpsale, you also opt-in to be added to the fundraiser’s or seller’s email list.

We require Bumpsale users to take adequate measures to protect your personal information. Only the people who need access to your information to do their job should have such access. This is also our policy at Bumpsale.

There may be times that we need to hire a third-party service provider to assist with our day-to-day operations, and that they’ll need access to your personal information as part of providing those services. If that occurs, we will require that third-party service providers to enter into a confidentiality agreement with us, prohibiting them from using the information for any other purpose other than the services they were paid to provide.

We will not share or sell your information to other third parties without your explicit consent except for the following reasons. We may share your information with a third party if we have a good-faith belief that sharing the information is necessary to comply with a law, regulation, or enforceable government request including court orders; to investigate potential violations or technical issues on our site; or to protect against harm to us, our users, or our affiliates’ rights, property, safety, or to the public as permitted by law. We must disclose your personal information in response to lawful requests by public authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements.

For all other uses, we will ask for your consent to use your personal information in a way that is not directly related to the reason that we collected it and we do not have relevant current permission from you unless so permitted by law. Of course, you may opt out of having your information shared with a third party or used for a purpose that is materially different from the purpose(s) for which it was originally collected or subsequently authorized by you by contacting us using the information below.
